ALL THAT GLITTERS!

Si tratta di piccolissimi frammenti dipinti con colori iridescenti in grado di riflettere la luce nello spettro luminoso grazie anche alle differenti forme di taglio tra cui quadrati, rettangoli,esagoni.

Il loro uso decorativo è molteplice, come per la nail art e il make up esistono prodotti che già li contengono (smalti,ombretti e gloss) così come esistono glitters liberi, cioè polvere di luce racchiusa in barattoli di plastica da usare a piacimento e fantasia. La disponibilità dei colori e la dimensione della superficie consentono di creare effetti più o meno vistosi,scenici e teatrali per ogni necessità, ma è soprattutto grazie ai tagli più piccoli e quindi più polverosi, che possiamo aggiungere quel tocco di luce in più al make up: un punto luce finale,oltre l’ombretto, oppure concentrati su tutta la palpebra mobile, uniti o meno a una sfumatura di ombretto, una riga di eyeliner e magari ciglia finte! Se l’affetto desiderato è “soft touch di luce” scegliete glitters polverizzati finemente che riescono ad aderire alla pelle semplicemente depositandoli sulla superficie (meglio usare un pennellino perchè il calore del dito li fa aderire in prevalenza al dito stesso) altrimenti per un’aderenza più sicura si può ricorrere al gel per capelli, gloss per labbra non molto liquidi, creme grasse…ma non sottovalutiamo l’esistenza di prodotti ad hoc che li fissano e ne cambiano anche l’effetto ad esempio Mixing Medium di MAC fa aderire i glitter e trasforma le polveri sotto una certa dimensione (pigmenti e glitter finissimi) in colore liquido altamente luminoso che si stende e poi in 30 secondi si asciuga!

Per i glitters di taglio medio grande invece, per essere sicuri della loro aderenza, si può ricorrere a un mix di colla per ciglia e gloss per le labbra ma la rapidità nell’applicazione è fondamentale!
RACCOMANDAZIONE: per toglierli occorre essere delicati e usare uno struccante oleoso delicato e fare attenzione a non stofinare gli occhi
con i glitter sotto..sono molto irritanti!
NON SOLO OCCHI: provate bocca rossa e glitter rossi su tutte le labbra!…ma attenzione alla scena del crimine! Forsae non sapete infatti che grazie alla loro riconoscibilità di provenienza e al fatto che si trasferiscono con estrema facilità attraverso l’aria e il tatto, i glitters possono essere usati come prova forense a carico di sospetti!!!

CURIOSITA’: già 30mila annifa il desiderio di riprodurre l’effetto della luce era espresso nelle pitture rupresti dell uomo primitivo con l’uso di polvere di pietre minerali, mentre nella civiltà egizia la polvere scintillante dei gusci di scarabeo veniva aggiunta nella preparazione dei cosmetici.
Il glitter moderno,cioè la ricerca di un materiale riflettente la luce, nasce poco dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale ad opera di Henry Ruschmann che grazie ai resti di vetro in enorme quantità della Germania bombardata, fonda in New Jersey un’azienda di reciclo materiali; il glitter di vetro è prodotto ancora oggi.

ALL THAT GLITTER!

These minuscule fragments are painted with iridescent colours that can reflect the light thanks to different shapes such as squares, rectangles and hexagons.

They can have several decorative uses, for example in nail art and make-up, there are some products that already include them (nail varnishes, eyeshadows and lipglosses) and there is also loose glitter, in the form of a light powder in plastic jars to be used as preferred. The colours and the size of the surface allow creating effects that can be dramatic, intense and with a wow effect for any need, but it is above all thanks to the smallest sizes, the most powder-like ones, that we can add a touch of light to our make up: a final point of light, on top of eyeshadow, or concentrated over the whole eyelid, paired with an eyeshadow if you like, eyeliner and maybe false lashes too! If you want a ”soft touch of light” effect, choose finely pulverised glitter that can adhere to the skin simply by applying them (I suggest using a brush because the heat of the finger makes them stick to the finger itself) or, if you want to be 100% sure of adherence, use hair gel, lip gloss, thick creams… but we can also buy professional products that fix them and change their effect, for example Mixing Medium by MAC makes glitter adhere and transforms the smallest powders (pigments and very fine glitter) into highly luminous liquid colour that can be applied and dries in 30 seconds!

For medium to large glitter, on the other hand, to be sure that it sticks, we can use a mix of glue for lashes and lip gloss, but it is fundamental to be quick when applying them!

SUGGESTION: to remove glitter, you must be gentle and use a delicate oil-based make-up remover taking care not to rub the eyes since glitter is highly irritating!

NOT ONLY FOR THE EYES: try red lips and red glitter on your lips!… but be careful on the scene of a crime! Maybe you do not know that due to the fact that because they are easily recognizable and can be easily transferred through air and by touch, glitter can be used as evidence in court against suspects!!!

CURIOSITY: as far back as 30 thousand years ago the desire to reproduce the effect of light was expressed in rock paintings by primitive men using powders from mineral stones, while in ancient Egypt the bright powder of scarab carapaces was added when preparing cosmetics. Modern glitter, i.e. the search for a material that refracts the light, was created after World War II by Henry Ruschmann who, thanks to the enormous quantity of glass debris from bombed Germany founded a company to recycle material in New Jersey; glass glitter is still produced today.
